The Huntington Bicycle Club of Long Island New York welcomes you!

We are saddened at the death of Harry Peck on 9 December 2020. Harry was one of the founders of the Huntington Bicycle Club and a cycling inspiration to all who meet him. He has the club record for the most rides lead locally and also organized rides for members all over the East Coast (for example, Blue Ridge Mountains, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut) and the Rocky Mountains. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife and family.

Harry, you will always ride on in our memories.

The Huntington Bike Club meets in Huntington, New York. Our ride schedule includes rides of varying difficulties each weekend from April through November each year. Most rides begin at the Greenlawn, NY, Train Station at 8 or 9 a.m. All riders must be at least 18 year old (unless accompanied by their parent or legal guardian), wear an approved bike helmet, and carry water, spare tube, and pump.

HBC offers road and off-road rides. Most of our riders are in the touring or recreational class. A typical weekend road ride lasts 3-4 hours at a pace of 13-18 mph. Structured road rides are offered April to November and start at the Greenlawn LIRR station south parking lot on Gates Avenue off Broadway. (Map may be obtained from .) Off-road rides start at various locations. Occasionally rides begin at a remote location such as Sunken Meadow Park.  The exact time and place will be published in Folks on Spokes for all rides.

HBC classifies rides by pace, mileage and terrain.  The pace ranges from slow (13 mph) to fast (20+ mph).  Mileage can be anywhere from 15 to over 100.  The terrain varies from flat and easy to hilly and challenging.  All rides have at least one rest stop for food and water. For additional information on pace, mileage and how to prepare for group rides see Ride Guidelines.

It is very important that every cyclist abide by the rules and regulations of safe bicycle riding. Approved ANSI andlor SNELL bicycle helmets are required on all rides.

Monthly social/business meetings are the first Tuesday of each month (January-November) at the First Presbyterian Church on Pulaski Rd. at Broadway in Greenlawn, NY at 7:30 p.m. (Map may be obtained from .) New members and guests are always welcome.

Benefits for members include a 10% discount at most area bicycle dealers, monthly copies of the ride schedule, newsletter, and invitations to the yearly club social, special "members only" rides like the club century, and other special events.

Each year we sponsor a bike tour of Long Island called the Gold Coast Ride. Riders chose from 12, 25, 50, 63, and 100 mile rides through  beautiful areas of the north shore.
